Look, Listen, Learn Something Every Day
Talk about challenges! I inherited a curricular ‘blank slate’ and needing an up-to-date training curriculum, I found myself searching for an EdTech training program for teachers. Not just ‘EdTech’, but EdTech that is specifically for our PreK-12 school setting. One in which teachers want to do their very best every single day and need professional growth opportunities that are embedded, efficient, and effective. I couldn’t find what I was looking for. So, I decided to design, create, and make it myself. Here’s to ‘Home Grown PD’ — sown over several years — hoping to grow and reap an abundance of confident and competent educators.

I Believe...
I can Strengthen a Proactive & Positive Culture
Providing meaningful professional learning for teachers is important for their ongoing acquisition of EdTech teaching skills, which in turn, benefit their students.
Just as students learning with digital tools need time and support, teachers, too, need investment in professional learning (Office of Educational Technology, 2018).
Prioritizing professional learning, fostering collaboration in our teaching community, and providing access to shared resources align with an organization’s Strategic Plan.
Strengthening a proactive and positive culture for all is a priority of mine, and educator competence and confidence are crucial in making this a reality.
Empowering Educators Through Meaningful Professional Development
The Office of Educational Technology at the New Hampshire Department of Education strongly encourages the development of district technology plans that focus technology priorities on the infrastructure necessary to promote teaching, learning, assessing and producing powered with technology (Home | Technology Planning Toolkit | NHEON, 2017).
Schools and districts will benefit from the design, build, and implementation of a technology integration professional development program. Technology integration coach(es) will move us toward future-ready systems by designing and modeling sound pedagogical practices. It is crucial that learning experiences are designed to strengthen every teacher’s instructional capacity.
My approach revolves around an innovative, learner-driven curriculum that meets teachers where they are and supports their professional growth (Future Ready, 2020).

Big Stuff to Consider
➡️ Do teachers have opportunities to develop skills for leveraging learning technologies in powerful ways? What do they have and what do they need?
➡️ How are teachers incentivized to create and innovate their digital pedagogy?
➡️ What opportunities do we provide teachers to identify and select professional development that is tailored to their needs?
➡️ What feedback is needed to understand the degree of learning loss & how can we innovate our practice and ongoing assessments to mitigate future learning loss?
➡️ What resources exist that demonstrate the best evidence-based practices in digital learning? What does Londonderry School District need to procure and create?
➡️ What feedback can be gathered to determine what is – or is not – working for our teachers?
➡️ How will we establish an ongoing system to acquire feedback from teachers to assess professional learning across the district’s five school buildings?
➡️ Should we have regular ‘ET’ department meetings? (ET= EdTech)
